PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP DAY February 24th

MORNING

9:30 am - 10:00 am Workshop Registration

10:00AM-12:00PM WORKSHOP A: PEOPLE

Managing the Transition to the Future of Work for BFSI with Stakeholder Engagement

The expectation that technologies like RPA, Data Science and AI will free up time for workers to focus on more high-level tasks begs the question: how will the workforce make the switch? This workshop will take a deep dive into engaging key stakeholders to ensure leadership alignment, developing a stakeholder blue print & its importance, preparing project stakeholders for change and bringing them along the change journey.

Understand how the employee is being changed by the future of work
  • How do you educate people on the unknown? Looking at Data Science change management for existing workers
  • Mapping the change journey; understanding the downstream impact of changes, made upstream
  • Developing a stakeholder blueprint
  • Bringing stakeholders along on the journey to align both leadership and staff alike

10:45 am - 11:15 am DISCUSSION

Participants will split into small groups to discuss two topics:
PR for IA: How can a united organizational vision of the future of work be communicated to reduce internal resistance to change? (MATURITY: Beginners)
Onboarding Machine Learning: ML requires teaching, but as leaders are we being patient with the learning process? How can we expect and anticipate a more understanding ML implementation process?
(MATURITY: Evolving)

11:15 am - 12:00 pm TAKEAWAY

Participants will create a blueprint that will map the key stakeholders that will be impacted by a current or future project. Each person will:
  • Choose a new or existing automation project being implemented at their company
  • Brainstorm all the different stakeholders that are impacted by the project both downstream and upstream
  • Defining the project plan and deliverables of each stakeholder and then prioritizing their onboarding of the project

12:00PM-01:00PM LUNCH

01:00PM-03:00PM WORKSHOP B: PROCESS

Use Lean Six Sigma to Improve Transformation and Pick the Right Candidates for Automation

Change can be difficult within Banking, Financial Services and Insurance because of organizational complexity and strict regulation. When the basis of lean six sigma is to identify and cut inefficiencies, combining lean six sigma with IA transformation provides a process-focused solution to simplify legacy systems before they’re automated. However, what does it mean to practice lean six sigma on a daily basis? If IA requires an investment in resources and lean six sigma is all about cutting waste – how do they compete? This workshop will demonstrate how focusing on the process before automation will lead to more effective change in the future.

Gain insight into the best deliverables LSS offers: process consistency
  • How a continuous improvement culture enables continuous process excellence
  • Use a LSS mindset to understand where automation can improve an organization
  • IA technologies that are lean by nature
  • Combining LSS with Design Thinking and Agile methods

1:45 pm - 2:15 pm DISCUSSION

Participants will split into maturity topics and then discuss:
  • How this technology complies with lean methodology
  • Where process improvement needs to occur before it’s effective
  • The value each technology would have to bring for them to deliver ROI
BEGINNER MATURITY: Robotic Process Automation
EVOLVING MATURITY: Chatbots or Optical Character Recognition

2:15 pm - 3:00 pm TAKEAWAY

Participants will create a blueprint that will map the key stakeholders that will be impacted by a current or future project. Each person will:
  • Choose a new or existing automation project being implemented at their company

03:00PM-03:30PM AFTERNOON BREAK

03:30PM-05:30PM WORKSHOP C: TECHNOLOGY

Laying the Foundation for Scaling RPA with CoE’s and Inter-Department Coordination

Many Banking, Financial Services and Insurance organizations often deploy RPA in pilot programs without first establishing the right framework for scaling. Consequently, the pilot may prove successful but efforts to deploy RPA at scale stop short after a few dozen bots are deployed and little impact has been made to the bottom line. By establishing the right governance structures, IT infrastructure and intra-departmental coordination the first time around, project managers can ensure that their initial Proof of Concept is the first step in an enterprise-wide transformation.

3:30 pm - 4:15 pm THEORY

Foundations and common challenges of widespread organizational RPA
  • Working with IT to ensure RPA is embedded effectively within enterprise-wide architecture
  • Establishing intra-departmental reviews of RPA pilots to gain a business-wide perspective
  • The maintenance and management of bots for long-term functioning

4:15 pm - 4:45 pm DISCUSSION

This session will be a debate:

Is a Center of Excellence Necessary for Effective RPA at Scale?

  • The room will split evenly into two sides: affirmative and negative
  • After fifteen minutes of brainstorming each team will present their argument
  • The facilitator will choose the winning side

4:45 pm - 5:30 pm TAKEAWAY

Where does RPA fit into your organization’s vision for the future? By thinking broader about RPA, participants will gain clarity on what their organization needs to do.

In this session, participants will road map the automation journey for the next 6, 12 and 18 months and what this will look like from an operational, technological, and customer standpoint.
